For the most part the sixth ward sits in the 17th State Senate District and the 34th Representative District.
State Senator Donne Trotter is said to be a point man in budget negotiations and he is running unopposed for re-election.
State Representative Constance Howard is running unopposed for re-election to her seat next year as well. She seems relatively quiet, however, a list of accomplishments are on her website.
In their respective races they are running unopposed in their respective primaries and there are no Republican opponent waiting in the wings.
