Yet, rather than face the consequences of rising costs, lower tax revenues and his own role in the CTA's predicament, Blagojevich responded with his typical bluster and threats. He accused the CTA of lying about no fare increases to get last winter's bill. Huberman and Brown had promised only that there would be no fare bump this year. And it would have been irresponsible for them to have made a no-fare-hike pledge beyond that.
But irresponsible is something Blagojevich knows. He is threatening to shake up the CTA board, where he could pick three of the seven spots. If he follows through, you know at least one bomb thrower will wind up there. Thus Blagojevich could bring to the mass transit system the chaos, backbiting, mismanagement and gridlock that have cursed Springfield under his misbegotten rule.

Gov brings his mismanagement style to CTA
Read this column by Steve Huntley at the Sun-Times describing the situation about the CTA talking about raising its fares. I'll leave the last two paragraphs for you to consider:
