Sen. Burris appears at the Soul of Black Folks Oratory Contest

I really think this was a very cool thing to do. Busy schedule sure, but I suppose I would note his recent troubles in the press and he still made it for our young people. I shall give props to Roland Burris. This tidbit was from the March issue of the Aldermanic newsletter...
Parents and students alike were surprised when our special guest, U.S. Senator Roland Burris, came into the auditorium. We were thrilled that he was able to take time out of his busy schedule to talk to the crowd and take pictures with the participants.
I do believe that this event took place at Harlan, I have to double check that.

This picture is of the participants and Ald. Lyle and Sen. Burris.
