Daley's 20-year anniversary as mayor goes unnoticed

Sun-Times:
If Mayor Daley has any regrets about the 20 years he’s spent as Chicago’s mayor, it’s only that the April 4 anniversary came and went without notice.

“I was surprised. . . .I thought somebody would ask me a question on that,” Daley said.

On Thursday, the mayor finally got bombarded with questions about the political milestone. And he relished the opportunity to reflect on his longevity.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my 20 years as mayor. I really love it. I don’t think there's a better job in America. You really get the pulse, the heart, the beat of a city like ours. Twenty years went very, very fast. It seems like it just was yesterday,” he said.
