Tribune:
Starting next week CTA riders can subscribe to receive e-mail
alerts that will provide estimated bus arrival times at bus stops, officials said this morning.
The new service marks the latest expansion of CTA Bus Tracker, a Web-based program that uses global positioning system technology to provide transit riders with real-time service information.
The email alerts will start next Monday, along with the addition of 20 more bus routes to Bus Tracker, available at www.ctabustracker.com.
For those of you with cell phones:
This summer the CTA plans to test a text-messaging system for Bus Tracker, officials said.
Customers will receive a text message providing the projected arrival times of the next four buses at specific bus stops, said CTA president Richard Rodriguez.
