Photo of the day

A pictured posted to flickr by Cragin Spring that shows the interior damage to the King Bowl - located at 8010 S. King Drive - after severe storms last year. It was uploaded on March 10, 2012.

Does anyone know if there are any plans with this place? As we all know the Park Manor Bowl was demolished as it was also damaged by severe storms last year.

  1. Per the construction crew I spoke to when the roof collapsed, the owner intended to rebuild and sell the building once he received insurance funds. The building was sold but had not closed at the time of the collapse per the construction crew manager.

Per other sources, the probability of the roof being rebuilt was slim to none as the repairs to the roof next door at the cab stand exceeded $50,000. Frankly, the owner is not in any rush because his relationship with the community was strained at best because he was upset the community voted the area dry and killed off the bowling business.

I would like to see the building saved and possibly move Mather or Mayfair Dance Academy to that location.

As far as Park Manor the owner was still weighing his options on rebuilding a bowling center or other structure. Frankly, based on the information I'm receiving about bowling I wouldn't bet on a bowling center being rebuilt. I do know that he is not going to sell it to the church who challenged his liquor license.
