Illinois Drivers to Bankroll Chicago Cops?

I wonder if the rest of the state should be forced to pay for the city of Chicago's policing needs. Read this report from In Chambers...

Gov. Blagojevich wants to install speed-enforcement cameras on interstates across Illinois to generate more money for Chicago cops

To make good on his offer to help Chicago combat violence, Gov. Blagojevich envisions putting speed cameras on interstates across Illinois — and using the revenue to form an “elite tactical team” that would operate in Chicago and other cities.

An on-site poll is an overwhelming no with not one yes vote. If this was any other governor, it could work. Even with a different governor, I'm not so sure this is fair.

  1. Well, income taxes paid by Chicagoans subsidize a lot of what happens in the rest of the state, so I don't think that's so bad, even if the optics of it are awkward. But no chance in hell under Blago.
