Some Chicago students skip school in protest

AP:

Superintendent Linda Yonke (YAWN'-kee) says money is important but so are having involved parents and dedicated students.

Yonke says 1,100 elementary school students and 150 high school students tried to register at New Trier as part of the protest.

State Senator James Meeks says today's boycott showed students what the funding disparity between districts really means. He says many students who saw New Trier's facilities said they wished they could go to a school that's as nice.

Read an earlier post about how many students made it up to New Trier today.
