Starting next month, Commonwealth Edison customers will see electricity rates drop by an average of 7.5 percent. On the heels of the story I had already posted yesterday.
The typical residential customer's monthly electric bill will decline by $6.36, ComEd said Friday.
The utility said lower electricity costs nationwide accounts for the drop in prices, which comes just as air-conditioning season kicks in.
"The global economic downturn has had a huge impact on the supply-and-demand dynamics for commodities, and, as a result, prices are falling for electiricity," said Anne Pramaggiore, a ComEd executive.
