West Chesterfield’s Requests:
As current president of the West Chesterfield Community Association we:
- strongly urge that MBE construction companies (prime and general) be utilized on this project as well as area unemployed and under employed.
- ask that equitable consideration be given to the the Black Contractor's United, Suburban Contractors Association, and the Suburban Minority Contractors with their membership.
- request that the CTA commit to addressing the safety, security, and aesthetic concerns of the community within a one or two block radius of the terminal. (The goal is to reduce robberies, illegal peddling, drug sales, public urination/defecation and littering. CTA security patrols, public restrooms, security cameras, waste containers should be considered for the eastern and western areas around the station.)
- request a commitment from the CTA to solicit community participation in the effort of identifying contractors.
Today we ask to schedule, a mutually convenient time for Chairperson Peterson, and President Claypool to meet with West Chesterfield and its partners to address our interests and concerns in order to move forward.
We have a positive relationship with George Coleman Jr., of CTA’s Government Affairs & Community Relations and can coordinate through him or as suggested.
Thank you for your leadership, requests of community input and consideration of today’s requests.
Michael LaFargue
