Could Ald. Michelle Harris be the new IL Democrat Party chairwoman?

Things are changing at a rapid pace right now. First Michael Madigan is no longer speaker of the IL House of Representatives, then just last week he resigns his seat and was able to install his successor an Edward Guerra Kodatt.

Then yesterday Madigan resigns his longtime chairmanship of the state Democrat Party. He's been in that role for over 20 years.

So who's interested? 8th Ward Alderman and Democrat Committeewoman Michelle Harris is throwing her hat in the ring. And Congresswoman Robin Kelly of the 2nd Congressional District is also throwing her hat in the ring. Also noted in that post by Rich Miller that US Sen. Dick Durbin has been wanting control of the state party for years. That doesn't necessarily mean he wants to be the chairman, but he wants to assert his influence over the state party.

Also consider that the Republicans have their own upheaval as they recently installed a new chairman over their state party. And in the state senate the Republican caucus have also installed a new minority leader just last year.

We're seeing a real shakeup in this state as of late...

And I just have to add this post from CapFax. I tweeted this out before publishing this post with my thoughts "Michelle Harris backed by Gov. Pritzker and Robin Kelly backed by Sen. Durbin. Odds are in the favor of Pritzker" And think about it Pritzker could back the effort with his fortune.

What do you think? Who prevails in this?
