Dorothy Brown off the ballot? #ChiMayor19

I haven't been following the whole petition objections process this year but the field has been whittled down from 21 late last year to 13 once the elections board ratifies a recommendation to remove circuit court clerk Dorothy Brown from the ballot:
On Friday night, a hearing officer at the Chicago Board of Elections Commissioners recommended that Brown’s name not appear on the Feb. 26 ballot because she didn’t have enough valid voter signatures. In Chicago, candidates for mayor must collect at least 12,500 valid signatures to appear on the ballot.

Brown fell 949 signatures short, according to Elections Board Spokesman Jim Allen. The validity of her signatures had been challenged by two of her contenders, businessman Willie Wilson and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.

Wilson dropped his challenge earlier this week, but Preckwinkle didn’t.

And at a Friday night hearing, attorneys for Brown didn’t show up with any signed affidavits to prove her contested signatures were valid, Allen said. Instead, they asked for an extension, which the officer refused.

Brown isn’t officially off the ballot until the board ratifies the hearing officer’s decision at its next meeting, which could happen Tuesday. But in practice, it’s rare that the board goes against an officer’s recommendation, Allen said.
Dorothy Brown is a seasoned veteran of the process and I can't believe she didn't ensure that her signatures were valid and that she would remain on the ballot. What went wrong?

Of course since I see nothing has been updated at the Chicago Board of Elections as of Monday night, it's not over until it's over. We shall see on Tuesday...

UPDATE 1:45 PM - A couple of tweets which are updates. She has been taken off the ballot.
I wonder why WBEZ says 13 as opposed to 14. Either way there are other objections out there!

More petition objections info and a withdrawal in the 6th ward

Yesterday JP posted about petition objection hearings for 6th Ward alderman candidates. Today Worlee posted an update regarding an early withdrawal in Dumars Franklin and that means he will be struck from the 2015 page. Mr. Franklin we hardly knew you!

In any event I wanted to be sure to share this document from the board of elections regarding the hearing schedule. Worlee is definitely helping to keep an eye out for any news regarding candidates in our 2015 election coverage for wards 6, 9, & 21. Now you can do the same in that arena with that document.

In the meanwhile we'll keep our eyes out for anything new regarding aldermanic candidates.
