Cook County Chief Financial Officer: Investments Safe

CPR:
Cook County's investments are safe despite current economic uncertainty. That's according to the county's chief financial officer Donna Dunnings. But Dunnings says the county's portfolio has not been immune to the down-turned economy.

DUNNINGS: We've sustained some losses, as we have even without this market, in the short term but I feel that in the long term, the assets of the county and that of the pensioneers will be stabilized.

Dunnings says the county's pension funds have taken the biggest hit of all its investments. She says that's because of the stock market's recent woes.Dunnings says county officials are monitoring those investments on a daily - sometimes hourly - basis.
