Man shot to death on South Side

A man was fatally shot in the head and abdomen on a South Side street Wednesday, Chicago police said.
Officers went to the 8100 block of South Eberhart Avenue about 2:24 a.m. and found David Earl Carney Jr., 21, unresponsive, Officer Daniel O'Brien said. Carney of the 4800 block of South Chicago Avenue was pronounced dead at 3:27 a.m. in a local hospital, officials said.
