Colvin is out of the 33rd District that includes the 8th Ward represented by Ald. Michelle Harris.
The revolving door in Springfield keeps spinning state legislators into golden jobs in the private sector. We showed some videos of Rep. Colvin talking about the Chatham neighborhood last year.
State Rep. Marlow Colvin (D-Chicago) has announced he will resign from his seat in the House to take a job as vice president of legislative and external affairs for ComEd.
The timing of the announcement, only a week after Colvin won a primary election in which he was unopposed, seemed strange to me.
During a telephone conversation, Colvin told me he had been in negotiations with ComEd since December but the details of his employment weren’t hammered out until now.
That likely means the 8th Ward Democratic committeewoman, Michelle Harris, will name someone to replace Colvin for the remainder of his current term and a candidate to replace him on the November ballot.
The Democratic Process was denied to the voters of Colvin's district. The voters were DENIED the opportunity to ELECT a new representative in this recent election.
ReplyDeleteDo our Black Politicians really care about us constituents?
NO, They Do Not!
Black Politicians hold these offices as jobs to advance their careers to bigger and better opportunities.
Nothing More!
And who, besides Colvin, is at the center of this nonsense?
Cue the dark orchestral music:
Michelle Harris
The same politician who participated in the destruction of the 6th Ward and carved out her piece of the 6th Ward pie is now going to appoint someone to Colvin's seat.
HOW SHADY IS HARRIS?
HOW SHADY IS COLVIN?
HOW SHADY ARE ALL OUR BLACK POLITICIANS?!
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE BLACK COMMUNITY NOT VOTING OUT THESE CLOWNS?!!
I see little to no hope for the Black community.
There is a lot more to this story that will unfold. Did everyone forget "Strogergate". As far as Harris she has nothing to do with this. She took cues from Colvin and not the other way around. She is not the big player people make her out to be but more a slick opportunist.
ReplyDeleteIt's typical 8th ward politics. For those who may have forgotten, Colvin was appointed after Todd became Alderman. Todd became Alderman after being appointed and Harris was appointed after Stroger went to the County.
Good info on the 8th Ward, making the political connections in that area.
DeleteConcerning Harris:
Whether she is a big player or slick opportunist, the bottom line is still the same. She is part of the cabal of Black politicians who are only concerned about their careers and not concerned about their constituents.
Their corruption wouldn't be that severe, if they were actually helping their constituents. If our Black politicians were solving the crime problem, bringing in jobs, providing funding for our communities, and doing all sorts of good deeds without the commands of their masters at City Hall or Springfield, no one would care about the games they play among themselves. We all know that NONE of these things are happening with our politicians. They're not even trying to help us.
So, why are they still in office?
Oh, that's right, WE DON'T VOTE!
Oh well, like I've said before, I see little to no hope for the Black community, and it saddens me.
