ABC 7: Student gives up full scholarship because of Chicago violence

A shame, but I understand. This is probably a concern of many parents when it's time to send a child to high school let alone college. It's reported that he's accepted an offer to attend Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. So hopefully he'll find somewhere for him and his mother's piece of mind.

And then we can add another question, how many other college students made a similar decision based on the violence in the city? At that is it even common?
