Vote for Cottage Grove Planters Project in Pepsi's Refresh Project!

From the founder of Cottage Grove Planters

The Cottage Grove Planters Project that I spearhead has been selected for the Pepsi Refresh Project Grant Contest. If we get enough votes, the Cottage Grove Planters Society could win $5,000 to continue the work of planting flowers and installing student's artwork on the sides of the large planter pots that line Cottage Grove Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.

Please vote for this community beautification project. That money will help us purchase flowers and ensure that 13 more public schools can participate in improving their environment.
Simply go to: http://www.refresheverything.com/. If you have a facebook account, just click that to log in, if not you have to create a Pepsi account.

Click the "Communities" tab at the top and then select the $5,000.00 category and then click "Near You" on the drop down tab by "Shuffled Ideas" Look for "Beautify and add children's artwork to the Cottage Grove Planters"Then just click "Vote for This".

Please help us by voting for us, emailing this message to everyone you know and asking them to vote for us and remember, everyone can vote up to 3 times a day. If you buy Pepsi products, you can get up to 100 extra votes to use to vote for us with a unique "Power Vote" code found under the cap of specially-marked Pepsi bottles and specially-marked Pepsi 12 pack and 24 pack can packaging.
Thanking you in advance,

Leiana J. Thomas Gary, Founder

Creative Floral and Gifts is hiring

Creative Floral and Gifts is hiring!

In this recession, it's good to know there is still hope. Now would be an especially exciting time, as Easter, and even more so, weddings and Mother's Day are coming up.

Creative Floral is located at the corner of 79th & Calumet (1 block west of Martin Luther King Drive). (343 E. 79th, to be exact).

I’ve been there several times, and the service has been wonderful. Check our previous entries for more information.

Pictured here is my daughter with the sign.

For more information about the position, please contact them at 773-846-2929

Creative Floral and Gifts -- check out the sale

JP's personal take on Creative Floral is at the end of this post.

Creative Floral and Gifts
343 E 79TH ST
Chicago, IL 60619
phone: (773)-846-2929
fax: (773)-846-2934

I was hoping for some content from the business itself (such as phots and a personal note)...if we receive it, we will update this blog entry, and may bump it up.

When i talked with the owner, Carole Hobson, here are some things to note (as Valentine's Day is coming up, and Creative Floral is a great place to shop):
  • They are open until 7pm on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday Feb. 14.
  • Free Delivery
  • However, if you order before Feb. 12, you can receive a 10% discount on your order

JP Paulus' personal experience
I am not a "flower" guy, so I left it to the experts at Cretaive to come up
with something for me. Each time, they have done a great job, and the flowers
last for quite a while.

The service has always been great, whether I walk in or order over the phone (when I can't come in, but have an order that needs some explaining).

I was sad when Becky's closed, but happy to see that Carole Hobson & Creative Floral is taking the flower business to the next level, and it's a welcome business in Chatham and the 6th Ward. It's definitely a great neighborhood business. I encourage you to check it out.

P.S. They deliver all over the city and even suburbs...so i encourage other readers to patronize this business (I am looking at you, Hyde Park!)
