YoChicago's Quote of the Day!

Pretty funny and something to chew on.
"I sure am glad I'm not in the mortgage business. If I don't lend to lower-income people, I'm redlining; if I do, I'm being predatory…"

- Marc Andreessen, founder of Netscape

  1. His quote is cute, but not accurate.

If he's not lending to someone in a lower income area, even if they are reasonably responsible enough to carry a mortgage (i.e. someone who grew up in a "bad" part of town, but still wants to live there to improve the the community/his or her home), then it's redlining.

If he's lending to someone in a lower income area, and he's using deceptive techniques and not caring about if the person can actually pay off the loan, then he's also doing a bad thing.

Marc Andreessen may have been smart enough to create Netscape (and the $$ that came with it), but there are some areas of life where he seems quite ignorant.
He should check out the principles of the Christian COmmunity Development Association ( www. )
