Rod can't play nice and can't manage?

Voice of the Southern:
The issue: A review of audits shows a troubling trend in how the Blagojevich administration handles the public's money.

Our view: The audits don't lie. The governor's office has to drop the defensiveness and we need change.

You'd think Rod Blagojevich would have to be a smart guy.

He's a graduate of Northwestern University and the Pepperdine University School of Law. He was an assistant Cook County state's attorney, a member of the Illinois House and the U.S. House, and the first Democrat to win the governor's office since Dan Walker.

Yet the governor continues to enmesh himself in odd scenarios, such as his inability to cope with House Speaker Michael Madigan and his strange way of dealing with Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley: Insult Daley with one utterance and ask for help in the next.

A recent look at state audits by The Southern Illinoisan's Springfield bureau revealed another troublesome trend, this one having to do with the day-to-day operations of agencies under the governor's control.

In short, Blagojevich's administration has been plagued by more reports of mismanagement and waste than his two most recent predecessors.
Heh, this is probably one argument against allowing the governor his pay raise. Read the whole thing. Via Capitol Fax this morning.
