I waited until Sunday to do this

Last weekend I got an email from representatives for the St. Paul GOP Convention. I suppose they were PR who somehow got my blog email address getting in touch with bloggers. As such I sent an email to request a member of the Illinois delegation, preferably from our local 1st and 2nd Congressional districts to offer their notes on the convention.

Perhaps not much different than the notes offered by Ald. Freddrenna Lyle on the DNC in Denver, Colorado. In fact to be sure I didn't have to ask for it. I thank her again for offering her thoughts on the activities surrounding that convention last weekend.

Anyway after getting a response clarifying what state delegation I was seeking to get in touch with, I got no further response from them. Either they forgot about me, or they weren't interested. Perhaps I should have been more persistent or forceful?

Either way I'm sure most of you who read this blog, regardless of whether or not you live in the 6th Ward, support Sen. Barack Obama for President. I suppose in my own way I wanted to be fair if I could. Unfortunately that didn't work out.

The Republicans could have had a chance to speak directly to those of you who read this blog. I think the opportunity would have been worthwhile even if I suppose nothing could be gained. I'm sure things got very busy up there in St. Paul for this convention for them to forget about my request. So what I would say is that the Republicans blew a good opportunity here.

BTW, not to be entirely spiteful you can watch McCain's speech here courtesy of C-Span.
