The number of Cook County judges working on foreclosure filings is up from 10 to 14 beginning today. That's according to the Chicago Tribune.
Presiding Cook County Judge Dorothy Kinnaird wants to keep judges from burning out. County figures show judges have 6,000 cases pending at a time. Kinnaird wants to drop that to 3600 cases.
Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart says foreclosures have tripled in the last two years. He projects more than 43,000 foreclosures will be filed by the end of the year.
