Tribune Poll: Economy top concern of Illinois voters!

Tribune:
A striking number of Illinoisans are feeling similar pain, and their concerns have helped transform the presidential election from a debate over the Iraq War to a vote on people's pocketbooks. For many, change trumps experience, and restoring the economy far outweighs concerns over national security and the threat of terrorism.

To gauge Illinoisans' top concerns and how they influence their choice for president, a poll conducted for the Chicago Tribune last week surveyed 500 registered general election voters. Gerber, a Democrat, told pollsters that home-state Democratic Sen. Barack Obama would do a better job of fixing the economy than Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

While support for Obama in Illinois was never in doubt and the state was never contested on the presidential level, the poll results show that the concerns of local voters often mirror those in battleground states expected to decide the Nov. 4 election.
Another article that worth a good read.
