Burris says money not a factor in 2010 election decision

An unedited press conference of Sen. Roland Burris at the offices of  N'Digo Publications on Sunday. You can watch the video here and pulled from Chicago Breaking News (Tribune).

And here's an excerpt from Clout St:
U.S. Sen. Roland Burris said today he has made no decision on seeking election to the seat next year, but a top strategist said the appointee of ousted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich is launching a “very aggressive” fundraising regimen.

Reporters were sequestered in a parking deck next to the West Side headquarters of N’Digo publications, where more than two dozen supporters wearing “Run Roland Run” buttons held a fundraiser that one sponsor hoped would net $50,000. Burris recently reported raising only $845 from January through March while racking up $111,032 in debts he said were due primarily from hiring consultants.
...
Burris said he would decide on a bid for election in next February’s Democratic primary “in the very near future.” Though he also faces legal expenses he says have topped $500,000 and is seeking permission to open a legal defense fund, the former state attorney general and comptroller said his decision would not be based on dollars.

“It’s not a matter of money,” he said. “It’s just a matter of my feeling comfortable that I’ve gotten my Senate legs under me and I grasp the issues very well as to what’s happening in the United States Senate and that will make the determination.”
On state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulis raising $1.1 million on his senate bid:
“I don’t care about who’s raising their money. So, is he a candidate? Has he announced?” Burris asked of Giannoulias.
Read the whole thing. If he's planning on running, it appears that he's full speed ahead on this!

Well the AP isn't saying much that isn't already known
But Burris told reporters that money raised today at the Chicago event will go toward $111,000 in debt accumulated while setting up his Senate office, not a campaign to keep his seat in next year's election.
Any article about Burris will mention that he is still under investigation by the US Senate Ethics Panle in addition to the Sangamon County State's Attorney for his contradictory statements to an impeachment panel during the whole Rod Blagojevich fiasco.

Read more of a round-up at CapFax where he even mentions that only 50 people showed up for his fundraiser.
