  1. 1 killed & 8 injured (some critically) in the 7100 block of S. Vincennes (6th Ward) at 1 AM today, yet another fatal shooting in our neighborhoods. I live near this location and was able to see the great work our officers do cleaning up the aftermath (I could see the slain man from my window lying in the alley). What can we do to stop this violence? Because it's up to us before we look to the law enforcement officers in our area. We can cry in the streets for more officers, but at the end of the night, we will still have people out there that can't even get a long at a party and decide to take action with weapons. This has to stop or our kids will think this is acceptable behavior.

PARENTS NEED TO SPEAK UP AND TALK TO YOUR CHILDREN NOW BECAUSE THEY WILL BECOME ADULTS AND WHAT THEY THINK IS ACCEPTABLE MAY NOT BE WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO BELIEVE! Sorry for the caps, but I'm screaming mad about another murder in my neighborhood.

And one more thought to be added, I don't want another street march speaking out against violence. What I want our parents speaking to their children about the truth and consequences of this stupidity from the aftermath of those left behind grieving to the potential life sentence for not thinking everything through like a rational person because after all isn't that how we want to be thought of in the minds of others in the city?

    George
