Claypool won't run for Cook County prez

Greg Hinz:
In a major political surprise, Cook County Commissioner Forrest Claypool has decided not to run for County Board president in next year's election.

Mr. Claypool was not available for comment and his office declined comment.  But multiple political sources say that Mr. Claypool in the past 24 hours has informed them that he will take a private-sector job in health care.
BTW, in preparation for her run for the post held by Todd Stroger currently, Toni Preckwinkle now has a website for her county board President campaign. Hat-tip Capitol Fax!

You can read a round-up over at the CapFax as well on Claypool bowing out of the county board Prez sweepstakes!

Also in that Hinz post county commissioner Larry Suffredin, he ran for State's Attorney last year in the primary only to lose to current State's Attorney Anita Alvarez, is forming an exploratory committee for county board President.
