Illinois foreclosure filings fall in May

AP:
The number of home foreclosure filings in Illinois fell in May compared with April, though they still were higher than a year ago.

A report released Thursday by Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac shows 10,942 foreclosure filings in Illinois last month. Filings include default notices, auction-sale notices and bank repossessions.

Illinois filings dropped 20 percent from April's level but were almost 10 percent higher than May 2008.
