Wal-Mart backing robocalls?

A point of view (POV) from an incoming link at The Writing on the Wal blog:
When it comes to Walmart’s urban strategy, we write more about the City of Chicago than any metropolitan area in the United States, with good reason. Walmart’s beachhead on Chicago’s south side is well established and the generals want to push inland.
They go on to discuss the robocall published last week by JP Paulus and then reaches this conclusion:
Just looking at the poll I’d say it’s more probable that Alderwoman Freddrenna M. Lyle’s likely opponents in the next election are polling to see if Walmart can be a wedge issue. The best way to check and see if Walmart is involved would be to pull the campaign finance reports for those politicians.
I suppose this could be one way to look at it, right. That or gauging support for a Wal-Mart beyond looking at who's sitting in a city council seat. If 2007 was the year that labor unions asserted themselves politically, then might someone want to make 2011 the year of Wal-Mart?
