Section 8 in Chicago
Skurry at Logan Square Sewer talks about his experience in "Section 8" housing. Something to consider I suppose before anyone attempts to talk down such people.

I'm glad you took the lead before this got to be an ugly conversation. Yes Chatham has section 8 housing and most households are law abiding people, it is a handful of households where there are problems and most cases are also abusing the program. Our community's response to those problem households has been to demonize all households who are part of the program.
ReplyDeleteWe need to step back and attack the problem with the tenant and owners. The owners are not being held accountable, They are knowingly allowing the tenants to violate the agreement so they can get their rent and the tenants allow the owners to neglect the properties and accept it as a standard as well as discrininate against non-section 8 renters. These conditions are what lead up to problem properties. Let's call in the field inspectors when we see problems arising so the owners can be called on the carpet and held accountable.
