"Hey, A Great Idea!" from CAPCC...

From the Chatham Avalon Park Community Council blog...this entry has had the most comments they have ever had on their blog (so far):
We, at the Chatham Avalon Park Community Council, think that a way to rid the neighborhood of all the vacant storefronts along 75Th Street and 79Th Street would be pop-up art galleries where artists at a low fee can showcase their artwork
At least two of us at TheSixthWard love the idea! What do you think?

Any suggestions of artists or artwork?

  1. While it is refreshing to see some positive post on this blog it is very short sighted.

The Chatham community has been blessed to have outlets for local artist to showcase their works. One being the Whitney Young library and the other being the Wood Shop gallery on 75th Street. Mr D'Artanian has being at that location for over 20+ years and has always given local artist including artist who now have the hot galleries (Gallery Guichard, etc.)a venue even when it was not "chic" to be an artist.

Now CAPCC has been struck with amnesia after using his facilities several times for free. Also, he was also affected by the sewer work on 75th. Lets support existing businesses and work to bring in new business to the empty storefronts and take some art out of the woodshop and display it in those new stores.
