Man shot dead in Park Manor

Tribune:
The unidentified adult man was found unresponsive in the alley on the 100 block of West 74th Street, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro. The man was believed to have been in his 30s, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police received the call about the man at 3:20 a.m. and arrived to find the man with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest, Alfaro said.

Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation but do not have anyone in custody and do not have a motive for the shooting, Alfaro said.
According to the Sun-Times media wire:
No one was in custody as of 4 a.m., Alfaro said.

Wentworth Area Chicago Police detectives are investigating.

  1. The violence in our community is absurd. Syron Smith, a self-described "block-by-block" organizer, who has received considerable support (tantamount to an endorsement) on this blog for quite sometime is running for State Rep. in Park Manor. How is his campaign coming along? Where is his campaign office?

  2. As far as I know none of the bloggers here have a bone to pick in the 32nd District race between Syron Smith and Rep. Andre Thapedi. You may have seen posts about him over time on this blog or even on either twitter or the facebook page.

Rep. Thapedi is more than welcome to provide any updates on his campaign as much as Syron Smith is providing updates to anyone who will listen.

That being said there WILL be no endorsement in THAT race or most likely any other race in 2010. However since the 32nd District is a part of the 6th Ward I will continue to cover this race to its eventual conclusion.

    Thanks.

  3. Rep. Thapedi and Mr. Smith are not the only contenders. The 6th Ward's own Bobby Joe Johnson is also running in the 32nd District.

  4. Well Bobby Joe Johnson is also more than welcome to provide updates to this blog on this campaign.

I've got to say however that this post has gotten more political. There was no need to bring up any particular political candidate. Let's get focused on what this post was about.

A man was shot in Park Manor. Let's keep our eye on the ball here!
