Cop shoots man after traffic stop near 75th & Prairie

From Chicago Breaking News
Chicago police shot and wounded a man who reached for a handgun after his car was
stopped for a seatbelt violation on the South Side this afternoon, police said.

See the top link for the full story, which happened New Year's Day(Friday) around 1:45 pm..

This incident happened in the 300 block of East 75th Street, literally down the street from Alderman Lyle's office.

While we certainly should be concerned about crime in our neighborhood, should we also not be thankful that we have police who alert to criminals passing through our neighborhood? This incident was more proactive rather than reactive.
