Petition filing period has ended...

JP Paulus noted the beginning of the petition filing period for next year's Presidential Primary to be held on March 20, 2012. Two races to watch in March would be the primaries for the open 34th District State Representative seat being vacated by incumbent Constance Howard.

The other is for 6th Ward Democratic Committeeman. We will have a rematch in that race between Ald. Roderick Sawyer and Richard Wooten who is also running for 34th District State Representative. Judge Lyle who is the current 6th Ward Democratic Committeeman did note file by the December 5th deadline.

In light of a post where Crain's political writer Greg Hinz called on more people to run for Republican Ward Committeeman it's appropriate to note those who are running for that obscure post. The current 6th Ward Republican Comitteeman is Jackie Robinson and this year he is facing some competition.

Mary Flowers in the 31st District is running unopposed.

Current 32nd District State Rep. Andre Thapedi is being challenged by Bobbie Joe Johnson.
