Have you made a donation to a food pantry?

Monday, YoChicago had a post about a North Shore food pantry seeking donations. Yes, believe it or not there are even families in the North Shore who are struggling. Just like there are families struggling on this part of town.

Now we're moving into the holiday season and there are certainly families who aren't able to cook a full holiday meal for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. Now it's time to find a food panty in our part of town and perhaps consider making a monetary donation or a food donation.

St. Columbanus - located at 331 E. 71st St - has a food panty and also Chatham Avalon Park Ministries - located at the corner of 86th & State Street  - also have a food pantry. If there any others worth noting feel free to share them with us!

Also you can check out the Greater Chicago Food Depository and find a food pantry near you to make a donation!

  1. Israel Methodist Community Church - 7614 S. Cottage Gr., Chicago IL 60619, (773) 483-1131 - has a food pantry that gives out food every Friday. Also, on Thanksgiving Day, prepared meals will be available to all interested in eating. We want to take care of our community and the people in it. Those dinners will be served from 10 am until 2 pm. In addition to serving the community, we also serve the sailors. We participate in the adopt-a-soldier program.
