Community outreach for the Whole Foods Market Distribution Center to be built on 111th Street will be held at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep auditorum located at 250 E. 111th Street and enter parking at 111th & King Drive door 36. As per information noted at the 9th Ward meeting if you have a trade they are hiring at this event. To pre-register call 888.642.5023 or email pullmanpark @ sbcglobal.net

Also a public hearing for the CTA red line extension project's draft environmental impact statement (EIS) to take place at the St. John MB Church at 211 E. 115th Street on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM.

Proposed Chicago ward remap would add Hispanic seats - Chicago Sun-Times I would very much like to see the Latino caucus' ward map. Perhaps it might look good to the CBO's of Roseland Heights, Chesterfield and especially West Chesterfield. The City Council’s Hispanic Caucus has drafted a new Chicago ward map that includes four more super-majority Hispanic wards — for a total of 14 — and two more Hispanic “influence” wards to reward Latinos for their 25,218-person population gain in the 2010 U.S. Census. There should be an elected school board

http://www.cpsboe.org/ It took me a while to come to this conclusion but I've finally decided that there should be an elected school board in Chicago. Not saying that this is the best solution for our schools in Chicago, but it's an idea that should be considered. The only caveat that I've considered is that there must be a hybrid board where the people can elect members and the mayor can appoint members. This has always been my thought however the Chicago Sun-Times solidified this much further in an editorial . This Tribune editorial makes further points about the various points of school boards whether hybrid, elected or totally appointed. To be sure, I have little problem with the Mayor of Chicago having some form of direct influence on the Chicago Public Schools. This is one reason I support a hybrid board. You may not always agree with him (see my comments often in response to him), but today is the birthday of the Sixth Ward blog's Worlee. While I definitely disagree on a number of opinions and style, Wolree has definitely given this blog, and other media (such as Concerned Citizens of Chatham ), a lot of useful information about our neighborhood. Following stricter journalistic guidelines is the Chicago Citizen newspaper , celebrating 49 years today, according to Facebook .
