Ex-Alderman Troutman expected to plead guilty to corruption

Tribune:
Former Chicago Ald. Arenda Troutman is expected to plead guilty Wednesday to corruption charges, the U.S. attorney's office announced.

Troutman, who represented the 20th Ward, was charged in early 2007 of using her office to shake down real estate developers for cash and favors. She lost a re-election bid after the charges were announced.

A statement from the U.S. attorney's office said Troutman is scheduled to plead guilty at noon in U.S. District Judge Ruben Castillo's courtroom.

Troutman has previously maintained her innocence.

She was charged with 13 counts of extortion, bribery, mail fraud and income tax evasion.
