Ald. Lyle items

Remember sometime last week when State Sen. James Meek made a crack about city alderman coming to his office seeking state money? He was especially referring to a delegation of which Ald. Lyle was herself a part of, but apparently the city aldermen seeking state money actually got some. Although, this may be of no thanks to Sen. Meek. From Tribune:
Legislators also took care of Chicago aldermen, doling out millions to repair roads and lights. Ald. Freddrenna Lyle (6th) dismissed the notion clout played a role in securing $575,000 for her ward.

"It's not that. It's just that this year I begged harder," she said.
Just to be curious, I hope we'll know where this money is going in the near future!

Also Ald. Lyle makes a statement with regards to the indictment of west side Ald. Ike Carrothers courtesy of CPR:
But on a busy day at city hall, many of his colleagues would comment. Alderman Freddrenna Lyle was asked about word that Carothers likely wore a wire tap to help the feds, possible while talking with other aldermen.

LYLE: I understand the concept that if you're in trouble, you try to mitigate your damages by bringing other people in. I don't understand that part of it, though. If you're in trouble, suck it up, move on.
You can also listen to the audio (mp3) of Ald. Lyle's comment in addition to Carothers and Ald. Tom Allen who's from the northwest side of town.

If you want to know more about the indictment of Ike Carrothers you can go to Overpaid Government Worker where there is video of the full press conference with US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald.

UPDATE 12:17 AM Other statements by Ald. Lyle on Ald. Carothers from CPR:
ALDERMAN FREDDRENNA LYLE: Give everyone the benefit of the doubt because that's what our system is based on.
...
ALDERMAN FREDDRENNA LYLE: Everyone is going to - it's going to be business as usual.
You can also listen to the audio (mp3) to this story as well.
