Officials: Man charged in 2 fatal shootings fired, 'until gun jammed'

David Russell, pictured to your left, was charged in the shooting that took place near 82nd Street and Cottage Grove on Friday. Story from the Tribune:
David A. Russell, 22, of the 9500 block of South Calumet Avenue in Chicago in the Rosemoor neighborhood, was charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder in the killings, according to a news release from police today.

Prosecutors said in court that Russell admitted to the shooting and told police where to find the gun. He fired 14 shots from a 40-caliber pistol "until the gun jammed," officials said.

Judge Peggy Chiampas in ordering him held without bail noted the "brazen" recklessness of the alleged conduct by the 22-year-old.

"Thankfully this was observed by a uniformed police officer... Thankfully the gun jammed. Thankfully the police officers were not struck and no innocent bystanders were struck," Chiampas told Russell. "All this at the very young age of 22 years old, and you're facing a potential life sentence."
