Two males were wounded in what police initially described as a drive-by shooting around 3:15 p.m. outside public library near 79th Street and King Drive.Right in the virtual heart of the neighborhood!
One of the victims, thought to be 18, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and prononced dead about an hour later, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The Chicago fire department had described the other victim as a "young adult," but police could not provide the victims' ages.

Is Christ Hospital the only one they take shooting victims too on the South Side?
The other victim in this shooting was reportedly sent to Stroger Hospital.
ReplyDeleteState Representative Andre Thapedi came to the WIM meeting yesterday and discussed his House Bill 1966 that creates a "Safe Zone" within the 60619 zip code. He intends to ban "assault weapons" in our community to quell some of this violence. He said that St. Rep. Connie Howard also supports the Bill.
ReplyDeleteWhile this may not be the sole solution, we should support what Reprentatives Thapedi and Howard are doing. We should start marching, calling the media, and doing whatever it takes to re-claim our streets.
