Mother Of Woman Killed In Crash Sues Driver

WBBM-AM:
The mother of a young woman killed in a crash on the South Side over one year ago is suing a man who allegedly caused the crash.

About 2:10 a.m. on Dec. 22, 2008, Kim Taylor was a passenger in a 2001 Dodge Neon which was traveling westbound on 69th Street near Normal Street on the South Side, according to a lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court Friday.

The driver of the car, Elijah Hicks, allegedly turned his head, lost control and crashed into a light pole, the suit claims.

Taylor, 22, was a front seat passenger in the vehicle, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she was pronounced dead about 50 minutes after the crash, according the Cook County Medical Examiner.

Taylor’s mother, Willa Taylor, filed the suit against Hicks in Cook County Circuit Court on Friday, claiming he failed to keep a sufficient lookout and that his carelessness and negligence caused the death of her daughter.
