Some articles from the Chicago Tribune as well as the Chicagoist, about the new ordinance which seeks to limit the activities of "bucket boys"...youth who drum on plastic buckets (to earn money).

On Monday evening, I heard them on 79th street. So I was relieved that haven't been driven out. Personally, I think the new ordinance is racist, and can, to a degree, make these youth more susceptible to gangs. I hope we don't hear about one of these drummers becoming the next CPS student dying...

Now the writer of this particular entry (me,JP) hasn't stopped to interview them, for a couple of reasons:

1) If my daughter is with me, I am too concerned for my 4 year old's safety (they play in the median on 79th at State) to get out there.

2) If i'm not with my daughter, it might be creepy for a (half) white guy to go up to some youth and ask them questions and take their photo.

If you have your own photos, or you know them, we would love to hear from you, and do a blog entry on them.
