Free flu shots from the City of Chicago

CORRECTION: Beedie Jones from Mather's sends an e-mail stating that flu shots at Mather's will run from 9:00 am to 2:45 pm.

I got this announcement via e-mail from the Greater Chatham Alliance:
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM GREATER CHATHAM ALLIANCE (GCA)

Dear GCA Member or Chatham Neighbor:

I just received this information regarding free flu shots on Friday.

The City will offer seasonal flu shots at no charge, at one-day flu clinics. Additionally, a number of pharmacies and related businesses are or will soon be offering seasonal flu vaccinations.

There will be plenty of "seasonal flu" vaccine, and shots will be easy to get according to the city. Everyone can take advantage of this whether even if you currently are not under a doctor's care.

To take advantage of this service, please read the following.

LOCATIONS FOR FREE SEASONAL FLU SHOTS

If you have a Medicare Card, bring it. If not, it doesn't matter according to 311. Just come and get the free seasonal flu shot. The city advises that you will need both the seasonal flu and the H1N1 (swine flu) shot this year.

This coming Monday, October 5, Mather Cafe - Chatham
33 E. 83rd Street
9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
9:00 am to 2:45 pm

Friday, October 9, CDSS - Southwest Senior Center
6117 S. Kedzie
9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Please make an extra effort to cover coughs and sneezes, wash hands regularly with soap and water, and stay home from work and/or school if you have flu-like symptoms (coughing, sore throat and a fever).

Remind parents of young children to teach these good health habits to their sons and daughters---and to plan ahead and make home-care arrangements for their children on days when they are ill and should be kept home from school or day care.
Uptown Update has more locations for taking advantage of these free flu shots around the city!
