YoChicago: Neighborhoods for the rest of us: Grand Crossing

Joseph Askins at YoChicago gives a basic profile of another 6th Ward neighborhood, Grand Crossing. Starting off, Askins would mention how this neighborhood got it's name from a series train wreck in 1853 near 75th & South Chicago the discusses some stats. High and low income people are increasing, one-third of residents have a high-school degree or higher, and one-quarter live near the poverty-line.

In addition to noting transportation options including the Dan Ryan and the Chicago Skyway as well as the Metra Electric and the CTA Red Line he also notes Grand Crossing's walkscore. All about walkability or the ability of residents to be able to access amenities without the use of a car.

Finally they get to the real estate. Especially important information coming from a major real-estate blog such as YoChicago. What's important here is the price of property in addition to the types of sales that make up the real estate listings in Grand Crossing.

If you live in Grand Crossing and you'd like to sound off then please go there and leave a comment!
