ISRA files suit against Chicago in Federal Court

In light of the DC v Heller decision of the US Supreme Court this morning the Illinois State Rifle Association has filed suit against the City of Chicago. Directly from their homepage...
The Illinois State Rifle Association, together with Second Amendment Foundation and several individual plaintiffs, filed suit against the City of Chicago in federal court this morning at 9:15 CDT. More information will be made available in a statement from the attorneys tomorrow.
Via The Capitol Fax in this post with a great discussion about this decision and the role of the courts in interpreting the law. Some might say legislating from the bench or judicial activism but I'm sure there are some court followers who have their own opinions on that.

When the ruling came down apparently Mayor Daley has been promising to fight any attempts to overturn Chicago's handgun ban enacted in 1982. There are stories contained in both the Capitol Fax post and the ISRA's homepage. This article with Daley talking about this Supreme Court decision it seem that Daley is rambling more than usual.

I also want to note a pro 2nd Amendment rally that will be held at the Thompson Center on July 11th. That is for those of you who might be interested in that.

I don't want to go on and on about it but I would like to see if there are any comments on this at all. Perhaps I'll see what other Chicago area bloggers might be saying about this ruling as well.
